In 3rd/4th grade, students are expected to practice classroom material at home. On average, students should be doing homework independently for 30 minutes each day (see below for minute break-down).
Homework = 10 minutes of math per day + 20 minutes of independent reading per day
We want to encourage responsibility, so students should work on homework independently. We love having a group of parents that want to help support student learning, so please contact one of us if your child expresses confusion or frustration about a problem. An email or a note on the homework works best for communication :)
Ms. Gallagher, Ms. Daye, and Ms. Nally assign homework on Monday, with the expectation that is to be completed and returned on Friday. THERE WILL BE NO HOMEWORK ASSIGNED ON FRIDAY. We feel like 4 days of homework is a fair amount for students at this age, and we honor the time kids need to be playing and socializing. If homework becomes a struggle at home or you have a question about certain assignments, please contact one of us.
